Oleshky.

Last Thursday afternoon, I stood with a small group of young Ukrainians and supporters at a protest in London.

It was a modest gathering. A few signs. A few voices. But the people beside me were trying to make London hear the name of a town that is running out of time. Oleshky.

A town in southern Ukraine, under Russian occupation, where civilians are trapped with dwindling food and medicine, little medical care, unreliable water and electricity, mined roads and the constant threat of drones. People are reportedly searching abandoned homes for food. The dead have been left unburied.

I kept thinking about the ordinary life that once filled those picturesque streets. Now, even survival has become dangerous. Russia is the occupying power. It has a legal duty to protect civilians and allow humanitarian relief.

But Oleshky cannot wait for another week of more hollow statements.

It needs food. Medicine. Humanitarian access. Safe evacuation.

So say its name.

Oleshky.

Share what is happening. Demand action. Pressure governments and international organisations to secure humanitarian access and evacuation for those who remain trapped there.

Because people are still alive in Oleshky. And every day that passes makes their chances smaller. We must not wait until silence is all that remains.
